WATCH OUT THERE’S A SWOOSTY ABOUT
There is a free Firefox plugin called Swoosty SEO which automatically displays Google Pagerank and Alexa rank which could be useful for finding new link partners. However, without warning it is adding unwanted advertisements into WordPress posts.
The point is there is a paid version and a free version and what has happened is that the Swoosty developers have removed most of the functions from the free version and also inserted advertising, which nobody in their right mind would want.
It adds advertising at the bottom of WordPress posts and when view page is clicked it shows briefly and then hides itself so only the search engines can see it.
So I would advise that you get rid of Swoosty Spam by doing the following.
- Open your Firefox browser and go to the following in order:
- Tools, then click Add-ons.
- You will then see the Extensions Tab on the left side of the screen and after clicking that should be able to locate the Swoosty extension by scrolling down the list.
- Click the disable button and then click remove.
- Restart Firefox and voila the annoying SPAM will go away, just make sure to test all your posts to make sure that no unwanted kinks are left.
There are also other problems with this plugin like it inserting links in your gmail and when you enable Google pagerank it gives you hover ads too.
Remember, nothing in life is free
