Victorinox 4-Piece Knife Set with Fibrox Handles

Victorinox Cutlery is the knife of choice for professionals and consistently receives high accolades in product testing. This “best-in-class” commercial grade cutlery is now available for home use. Victorinox knives feature high carbon, stainless steel blades, hand finished at Victorinox in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. A special tempering process is used to produce an edge that can be resharpened over and over again, so the knife can keep its original sharpness throughout the entire life of the blade. Victorinox handles are ergonomically designed to minimize wrist tension. They provide a natural fit. A good heft and comfortable, positive grip are indications of a well-made knife. A sure-grip handle with a finger guard is valuable feature since the handle inevitably gets greasy, wet, or both. Although cutlery steel is naturally sanitary, materials and construction details of the handle minimize crevices what would offer hospitality to bacteria. Patented, NSF approved Fibrox handles.

Video Review of Victorinox 7-Piece Knife Block Set

What to Look for in a Good Set of Knives

First of all determine what you’ll need the knives for most often, then look for a set that includes that type of knife or purchase knives individually. Consider your budget before you even go shopping or you’re going to most likely over-spend.

If possible hold the knife or knives in your hand to see if they are comfortable to use.

The best knives will have a thick piece of steel that will also show in the handle to let you know what you’re getting. Cheaper knives will most likely be covered in a thick plastic handle with no steel showing.

Also check for good balance without too much weight at either end of the knife. Light knives making chopping vegetables easy, while heavy knives are better for tougher jobs…that’s why you need to determine what you’ll be using the knives for before you buy them.

Other things to consider are handle and blade materials. Are these made of quality materials? Blades should be smooth and without pits as well.

A Good Beginner Set of Knives Will Include:

Utility Knife
Chef’s Knife
Paring Knife
Bread Knife
Cleaver
Filleting Knife
Carving Knife
Knife Sharpener
