Who doesn’t love a good cake? I know I do and I probably eat more cake than I should. Well one cake that is better for you than some while still remaining absolutely delicious is a good sultana cake. If you have never had a sultana cake before then you don’t know what you are missing. Now there is many sultana cake recipes out there but none is better than this one. I know you probably don’t believe me so you better go ahead and make one for yourself. Don’t forget to invite me for some.

All right then lets get down to business. Just how do you make this sultana cake. Follow the simple instructions below.

Ingredients for Sultana Cake

3 eggs
1 cup plain flour
1 cup caster sugar
1 cup self-raising flour
1 tablespoon golden syrup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of almond essence
500 g sultanas
250 g butter

Directions

Put 1 cup of water in a large saucepan and boil the sultanas. Most of the liquid should be gone
Now add in the syrup and butter. Keep stiring until this has melted.  Allow some time for it to cool
The eggs and sugar can now be beaten in
The dry ingredients along with the essence can be added in then mix it all together really well
Pour the ingredients into a tin that is greased. It can no wbe baked at 175degC for approx 1 1/2 hours.
