Chop carrots, beans, and potatoes in cubes. Preheat a pan and add some olive oil. Brown the steak pieces in batches until all the pieces are well browned and crispy, making sure to remove each batch carefully with a slotted spoon. Sprinkle some salt over the browned steak pieces, tossing them well, and let the pieces cool off separately. Retain the drippings in the pan to let the juices mix with the rest of the ingredients.
In the pan, cook onions until they are translucent, and add the chopped vegetables and beef stock, with salt and pepper to taste. Continue cooking until the mixture boils, then lower the heat, and simmer it on low flame for about a quarter of an hour. The steak slices now need to go into the soup, along with Worcestershire sauce and tomato sauce. Keep the soup on low flame for few more minutes, stirring occasionally to mix the ingredients properly. Shredded cheese, topped with sour cream, works as great garnish for this steak and potato soup recipe.
The secret to making the most of this potato soup recipe is to make sure the steak pieces are well browned. You can also keep some crispy bacon pieces aside and sprinkle them over the hot potato soup for added effect.
