What Is The Best Wet/Dry Vacuum Cleaner?

What Is The Best Wet/Dry Vacuum Cleaner?

Hear it from an Expert

I think I hold the unofficial world record for wet/dry vac use. Is it possible to claim that I have spent more hours with a wet vac in my hands than anyone else in the world? I might be exaggerating a little.

Let me tell you the story of how this all began. When I was about 12 years old my dad had our house built…on top of a spring. He had no idea at the time, but it didn’t take long till we knew what we had done. So as a child, I spent many hours a day in the basement sucking up water. Did I mention that it was a finished basement? It was a daily chore for me.

During the wet season, I spent so many hours sucking up water, then climbing the stairs to empty the vac, and then returning to the basement to fill it up again. Who would have ever guessed then, that I would grow up and own a water damage business? I use large commercial “wet vac’s” or extractors on almost a daily basis.

What do you think? Do you think that I know wet/dry vacuums?

When it comes to wet/dry vacuums, my needs include power, durability, and huge capacity. The wet/dry vac I used a kid, you could fill up a little 5 gallon shop vac in 3 or 4 minutes when it was the rainy season. Now that I’m drying out flooded homes, I have a large capacity 20 gallon tank. But you won’t need one that big. But there are some great shop vacs out there at reasonable prices. Take a look at the workhorses on this page.

Large Capacity with Plenty of great Perks

Size is important to me. I love this 12 gallon capacity vacuum. When thinking about what size to buy, just remember that you never know what situation you will be in when you really need a large capacity wet vac. Better to go large and not need it, than to need a large capacity vac and not have it. The cost isn’t that much more. Especially when you realize how much this vacuum can do around your home. It is not just for water.

The other thing I love about this vacuum is the removable blower that sits on the top. I really didn’t think I would use it when it came with one of the wet vacs that I bought. But I have used it a lot and I wouldn’t be caught without it on any job.

Another perk to this vac is the attachments. Just look at all the attachments below that you don’t have to buy separately!

This is a great vac and I would highly recommend it.

Bissell Garage Pro Wet/Dry Upright Vacuum

It hangs on the garage wall for easy use and convenient storage.

I seriously need one of these. I love it because it mounts in your garage. It has a really long hose, so I can imagine that cleaning my car will be a lot easier than dragging out the house vacuum like I do now.

It is a wet/dry vac, so it picks up both wet and dry….duh. But it also can be turned into a blower. So you can blow those leaves out of the garage that get blown in there in the fall or blow the grass clippings away from the side walk in front of the house. There are so many uses for this handy dandy vacuum.

This product includes 7 versatile attachments and an accessory bag that they all hang in the garage in. So convenient. Now if I can only remember to put the attachments back.

ArmorAll Utility Wet/Dry Vacuum

ArmorAll is a name we trust already. They have great products for our home and car that we rely on everyday.

Perfect for the small messes. So you need one wet/dry vac for the house…this one, and another for the garage, a bigger one.

As you already know, every mess doesn’t call for a 16 gallon vacuum. So if you just need a little help in the house from time to time, this may be the best bet for you.

But it’s not too small. This product is 2.5 gallons, not too bad. It would hold a gallon of milk, with room to spare. This has an auto shut off when it gets full. You need that, believe me. Remind me some day to tell you the story about the shop vac and the insulation. Not a good ending.

It has a 6 foot cord, so it would be perfect for stairs as well. I hate vacuuming the stairs because I have to drag that huge vacuum behind me up the stairs. Not an easy task.

Sturdy and well built. This guy can tackle just about anything.

This has the best of both worlds.

It is smaller, but it can serve as a regular shop vac. 5 gallons isn’t too small at all. But then it also doubles as a wet/dry vac that can be mounted on the wall. With the long hose to clean your car or spills around the garage, without having to move the vac around with you.

For the price, it is a great deal. Think about it. Just check out the pics below. Pretty cool, huh?

Top of the Line Wet Vac

Fein Turbo II 9 Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum

Fein 9-20-25 Turbo-II 9-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum with Auto-StartCheck Price

So many choices!!! This vacuum comes in three different sizes.

Choose from 6, 9 or 15 gallon wet/dry vac with six wheels instead of four make this shop vac much more stable. I love the stable wheels. I hate how several of mine fall over when I am pulling them.

This vacuum also has a feature that will allow it to engage the auto-start. That is a nice feature to have.

It can be used with a router or a sander. Can you imagine building with no dust? Me either…..but this will allow you to do that.

This is one of the quietest shop vac on the market.

Cordless Wet/Dry Vacs

Perfect for on the job clean ups.

These are both cordless vacs that will clean up a spill or a mess on the job quickly. They both have great features, but some are different from each other. One has a HEPA filter. If you know what that is all about, then you know it is a big deal. But if you don’t need HEPA then the other would be fine. Check them both out, you won’t be disappointed.
